Finally

Finally I managed to have somebody hold my blue stripe quilt so I could take a photo of it. And here comes the back - pieced as well - from a lot of old thick solids.

Summer days in the middle of Norway

First a few pictures from this morning. I am still cutting fabrics for my watermelon-quilt. So nice weathere here today, I just had to bring the cutting with me outsides.














Yesterday we drove 150 km south to take a look at some cabins that where put up for sale. Unfortunately the newest one was sold on friday evening. The older one does not have water nor electric power, so I am a little bit in doubt about that one. I like to take a shower, at least every other day, and power is nice to have in some occations.

it's a fishy day

It isold outsides (10 deg C ) and some rain today. So I am working a litte blit further on my fishy table-runner. By the way - I changed the fish-color from brown to grey - think that looks much better...



Yesterday I found an old project and appliqued the last four tiny bits, made a sandwich out of it and started hand-quilting it.

Saturday in the sun

Today I had intended to do a lot of sewing. But wake up to a sunny day, so after a short trip to Heimdal - the veranda seemed to be a nicer place to spend the day than the basement (where my sewing-machine and pc are).

The placemat to the left is almost finished, I did all the blanket stitching by hand last nigth - but forgot to make the fishing-line. The just started quilt at the rigth is supposed to be a table-runner in the same style as the placemat.

Now I am going to try to put some binding on my stripe-quilt.

Shoppingday today

Had to go to IKEA today - my favorite shop - NOT
to get some big pillows
well they had fabric on sale to - so i bougth a couple og meters for the downstair living-room - to go with the pillows.

And with one of the pillows bougth earlier today, I have now quiltet and putted a backing on this one - 1 UFO finished!

Sewing Tuesday

Today I have had two friends over for sewing, talking an a strawberry-cake.
Last one just went home. My kitchen looks like this now:






And the sewing-room is not much better. Where does all this mess come from?









This is how far I have gotten on my placemats tonigth
- three of them almost ready for applique,
the forth one still misses the binding.
The pattern comes from AnnaKa, a norwegian designer.

Counter attack day

In the group of stashbusters there is counter attack day today. Well i cleaned my sewing/computer-table to get ready for quilting.

Had a lot of trouble with the quilting today, broke 8 needles in 1/2 hour. I am now at the outer border, and after putting a drop of oil into my machine it works better.

Three out of four table-mats have got their binding on, and is ready for appliqué



The appletree is trying to give us some apples this year -

Quilting has started on the blue stripe quilt - see further down in blog for picture (June 3)


I also piced together the beginning of 4 placemats - they will be decorated with applique after quilting.

Saturday morning

It's going to be a full day at home todayThe rain is pooring down (we have had nice weather all since last saturday)the house needs a cleanupand I have to get rid of some messbut in between I will be sewing a lothome almost alone (only DS 18yo at home)I am working on my blue strip quilt, are puttingthe backing together made out of old solids in purple, lilac, blue and blue-green.Hopefully will have DS to help me make the sandwich out of it in a few hours.Thursday I went shopping for thread to quilt this one, and found out the shop is selling out all their thread for half price. Well back at the shop again yesterday, bringing my box of thread, and made a nice supply of the colors I didn't have - and suppose I will need in the future.Last nigth I ironed a lot of fabrics - almost all shops around here had sales just before I went on vacation, sorry for buying, but when it's half price "I just have to". But since I havr promised myself - nothing goes into my sewing room unless the same amount goes out, they have to wait in a basket outsides in the corridor till I sew up some more.Now I will go upstairs making myself some breakfast, and start the day with a cup of tea and the newspaper. And then - SEW SEW SEWHave a nice saturday everybody!

A few hours later: the backing is finished, have to wait till Martin gets up to help me with the sandwich. Have just started some placemats, and have to go to the quilt-shop for some quilting thread for those.

shopping is expencive - 1 cone of quilting thread - 500NOK (app 100$)
do i need to say some more items happend to fell into the shopping bag - some x-mas patterns , and backing for the placemats...

now i have a lot of food to put into the fridge, and make myself some lunch. More sewing later.

Long time no see

Just came home from two weeks vacation in Alanya, Turkey
Well back home there first was a day of booring laundry to do, since the girls were going to Finland the next morning. On sunday some "better laundry" hang on the lines, and we had a barbeque-party in the evening. Back to work on mondag, but found out I better took some more days off since there was a lot of gardening to be done. The apples has started to show in the apple-three by the way.


On monday I went to a smal quilt-meeting and started a new quilt -- well actually i just cutted fabrics - hope to start sewing on saturday. And i got a little bit further on with the backing for my blue stripequilt.

I took yesterday and today (wednesday) off from work to help Dh finishing the making of a new loan (plen)
So yesterday we had a lot of soil to distribute. Today I can feel that my neck, shoulders and arms has been working too much yesterday.




Today DH went back to work, and there will be only me and oldest son at home for two weeks. If the wether goes on like the lates days, most of the time will be spendt outsides in the sun. If not - I will prefer to call it "nice weather for sewing" / "godt syvær"
